TUTOR INFORMATION
We estimate that last year our supporters volunteered about 7,000 hours of their time. If you are over the age of 18 with good reading skills, patience and a commitment to helping another adult achieve his or her goals, we can train you to be a tutor.
To become an ABE/ESL tutor, you will need to complete a 12-hour training workshop. Workshops are usually held once a month at the Literacy Council office either in the evening or during the day. The cost for the workshop is typically $35, which covers materials and a textbook that the trainee will be able to keep.
